I was photographing my subject in an open field on a mild winter afternoon in December, and there was a brief time when the golden light was just gorgeous. I was also struck by the deep shadows behind her. Her orangey-red sweater just popped, and I loved the warm light on her face. I used my 24-70mm lens because I wanted to capture the dramatic light around her, rather than a tight portrait. I directed her to walk away, then turn around towards me and the camera.
