I was inspired by a few black + white portraits of couples, including an image of one of the subject's parents from over 50 years ago. I wanted to create a timeless portrait for them. Their clothing helped created the retro vibe. Since I was indoors, I was using my 35mm f/1.4 that I use for lower light settings.
