Originally from Finland, Merja Varkemaa is a Paris based fine art photographer. A keen observer of urban life, she draws her inspiration from timeless street photography whilst not being a traditional street photographer herself. City life and architecture serve as the pillars as she photographs street life in a way to express deeper feelings and emotions. Merja�s photography is based on her pursuit of light and shadows, using both their contrast and complementarity to feature the beauty of each moment. Merja�s work has been been published in Click Magazine and Shots Magazine and her photographs have been shown in several juried group exhibitions. Her work has also been awarded a Mention Gold in the PX3 - Prix de la Photographie Paris 2018 and has been been selected as best of the category twice in the VOICE Collection and as finalist six times. She lives in Paris with her French husband and their 13-year-old son.
